Are You Safe and Secure While Your Trees Get Trimmed?

If you’re a homeowner, it might not be your first thought, but we’re going to assume that chopping down trees is something you do every few years—to make room for your driveway, for example. In any case, it’s important to keep yourself safe and secure when a tree falls in your yard.

That’s why we’ve put together this post all about how to stay safe and secure while the trees get trimmed!

Some Common Safety Precautions

Safety precautions are just common sense—but it doesn’t hurt to revisit them once in a while. Here’s a short list of safety precaution basics to keep you and your family safe and secure:

Speaking of that last thing, stumps can take a long time to go away — for the most part, they could hang around in your yard for 5-10 years after the tree has been removed. Make sure that you don’t cut into the stump if it’s not already rotting out.

Including your dog in the work can be dangerous — and it’s not very appropriate. Dogs can get really excited, and if they’re not used to this kind of thing, you could create a dangerous situation for yourself and other people.

That being said, dogs are good companions — we’d also recommend keeping young trees away from paved and paved-over areas. That being said, don’t let that stop you from planting a tree in your yard—just use it as a reminder of the dangers of swinging chainsaws around!

If you’re going to chop down more than one tree, remember that their roots will all be intertwined. It is possible to damage one anothers’ branches if they’re too close, so we recommend taking extra care and ensuring that the spacing between them is wide enough.

When you’re working with young trees, it’s highly recommended that you take extra care when cutting. Young trees are sensitive to the slightest touch and sometimes they can even bleed during the removal process.

If a branch is getting in your way, remember that there’s a good chance of it snapping off. Even if it doesn’t, there’s still the chance that it’ll fall from its own weight and injure someone or something when it lands on the ground.

Think about what other people might do — They’ll probably have trees that need to be trimmed, too. If you’re leaning against the trunk of a tree and using it as a ladder to climb up, be sure to make it as high off the ground as possible.

Be smart about how you use your chainsaw — the wrong way can make for some very annoying situations for both you and everyone else around you! If you’re going to startle someone, be sure to wear safety glasses with extra UV protection.

In addition to that, make sure that you don’t kick up dust in your yard. That might seem like an obvious thing to avoid, but it’s especially important if you or someone else is going to be working around gas-powered machines.

When you’re trimming branches or pruning a tree, you’ll want to make sure that you don’t cut into the trunk or any limbs that are supporting the main body of the tree. It’s also important to make sure that you don’t damage any limbs by trimming them too close to the trunk.
